In response to Covid-19 and other ongoing issues effecting Baptist women in the Pacific, the BWP decided to create the “Light In The Dark” grants to encourage our women to be mobilized as God’s light bearers. Three grants of AUD$1500 were given.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 15
The grants included:
SEEDS OF HOPE to Fiji: This project enabled 16 women to attend a three seminar of gardening fruits and vegetables led by a professional gardener. The women then were resources to create their own fruit and vegetable gardens at home. The produce from these gardens enabled their family, church and community to have food during the difficult time of Covid-19. Excess produce was sold at market. A second Seeds of Hope project was also established at the Navola Baptist church in Fiji. Check out the photos below.
COMPUTER LITERACY: Two computer literacy courses were able to be financed, one in PNG and one in Fiji. This enabled women to develop computer skills necessary to stay connected and resources during lock down.
