Sing to the Lord a new song, sing His praise from the end of the earth! You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and those who dwell on them.Isaiah 42: 10
The Baptist Women of the Pacific – BWP is a network or union of Baptist women’s ministries from the south-west Pacific region. The BWP is managed by a voluntary executive committee of Baptist women from the region.
Our purpose is to connect, equip and mobilise the Baptist women of the Pacific. This is achieved in a multitude of ways including conferences, connecting through social media, prayer events, newsletters, and workshops.
We operate from the following underlying values: unity, fellowship, cultural diversity, Spirit-led and justice.
Our current executive committee is especially focused on the issue of domestic violence. Some of the world’s highest incidence of domestic violence is within the Pacific region. There is also an interest in building the visible presence of women Baptist theologians in the Pacific. This is addition to BWP’s ongoing commitment to fostering and celebrating unity and fellowship between the Baptist women our region.
The BWP is under the umbrella of the BWA- Baptist World Alliance, a global network body for Baptist churches. Within the BWA there is a women’s department called BWAW- Baptist World Alliance Women. This department is organised into seven continental unions of which BWP is one of those unions.
